MESSAGE FROM CHRIS ARNOLD, CEO

The best decision I ever made was to travel the world. I worked and volunteered in cultures and countries I hadn’t previously experienced. Since starting Smaller Earth and, before that, Camp Leaders, I have often heard that an experience has been life changing. I’m glad to hear that obviously, but it does resonate as my years of travel and cultural immersion certainly changed me – let me tell you how.

I was a boy who hadn’t ventured much beyond Liverpool. I had made overseas trips to Spain and to watch my football team play, but both types of trip simply transposed Britain or Liverpool to a sunnier place.  Meaningful travel opened my eyes and then gave a new global perspective.  Purposeful and thoughtful travel gave me an understanding of people and a confidence that made me more able and added more ambition for my life and time.

We believe that our Smaller Earth projects are peak experiences - opportunities that will prove meaningful to you and the communities you stay with and visit. We believe that personal growth, fun and fulfillment are three of the many positive outcomes of a Smaller Earth trip. Camp Leaders has been providing travel opportunities in the USA since 1999, and has built a strong reputation in the Summer Camp industry for customer service and value. In 2009, Camp Leaders helped 4,000 people from across the world to secure a job in the USA for the summer. Camp Leaders is an important division of Smaller Earth. Through our experiences over the years, we have cultivated a deep understanding of cultural exchange programs in the USA.
