Perfect for anyone with a specific interest in clinical practice or medicine, this programme offers you the opportunity to provide life-changing medical attention and education to the community of St Lucia, South Africa.
When arriving into the community you will be welcomed with open arms into the Zulu culture. With your efforts, knowledge, and experience you will enrich and impact the lives of many people.
Situated around the beautiful area of St Lucia are medical providers who look after the local villages. Unfortunately, the medical team have little time, money, and resources to help care for the thousands of people that live around them. With your help you can become part of a project which educates and saves lives on a daily basis.
We offer you the opportunity to become involved at the grass roots level by assisting care givers to offer medical treatment and care, provide people with advice on health matters and helping them build a better life in their homes. With HIV/AIDS being such an impact on the communities, raising awareness and educating people on this virus to people young and old is also an important part of this project. This project with its variety and direct positive impact on individuals and families really is an unforgettable and life changing experience.
Spend your time helping the local people in the St. Lucia area of South Africa. As a volunteer you will provide direct assistance on home based care visits and help to educate and support people to live a healthier lifestyle. Volunteers help at the local clinic by taking the blood pressure, weight, and temperature of hundreds of patients. This project has succeeded in refurbishing community buildings in desperate need of repair including the local clinic, houses of poorer families in the villages, and helping build a place for orphans to live. You will be working alongside the team on the ground, where you can help run a weekly education class which helps raise the awareness of the HIV/AIDS virus.
The projects and placements will depend on your previous experience, and where you will bring the greatest impact to those in need of your help.
