Live and work abroad in Spain. Becoming an Au Pair in Spain is the perfect way to make new friends, learn or improve your Spanish language skills and experience the culture as a local.
Around 80% of the placements are in Madrid and Marbella which is a great base for you to fully immerse yourself in the Spanish culture. We also have families in other cities including Seville, Barcelona, Malaga, and Santander. Many young people have found Spain to be an exceptional place to live and learn a language that is already spoken by more than 400 million people around the world. The Au Pair program is a great opportunity to become part of a Spanish family, as they welcome you with open arms as a family member, not an employee.

Matching you to a host family
We pride ourselves on ensuring that you are matched to the right host family. All of our host families and Au Pairs have been carefully screened to ensure that we assure compatibility and sustainability in order to make your cultural exchange experience as effective and comfortable for both parties. You may receive a telephone call or be asked to Skype with prospective host families so you can get to know one another better.
Our host families are really conscious that this is a cultural exchange program and want to ensure that you are integrated fully into their family life to provide you with the best possible experience. Remember that Spanish families are eager to learn more about your native language and culture and this is the main reason why they want to host an Au Pair.
International flights are not included to your host family however you will be able to find some great deals from low budget airlines. Your host family will pick you up at the airport, train or bus station on your arrival date.
We want everyones trip to be fun, enriching and most of all safe. Heading on an Au Pair programme with Smaller Earth you can rest assured that you'll be going in to a loving family that has been thoroughly vetted and interviewed.
WE'RE THE AU PAIR SPECIALISTS
We're official members of the International Au Pairs Association, which means we work at the very highest standards of Au Pair recruitment.
We ask each Au Pair to provide a minimum of two childcare references, a police background check issued within the last 6 months and a declaration of full health. We also ask all of our families to do the same. Our placement team also visit the family homes to ensure they are suitable, comfortable and safe to host international Au Pairs.
Smaller Earth along with our international Au Pair placement teams, provide 24/7 support for all of our Au Pairs. We ensure everyone is fully prepared for their trip with a comprehensive pre-departure guide, advice and orientation where applicable.
This programme runs from September through until May. You'll need to be available for a minimum period of 3 months and try to time your arrival with the school semester.
There are no specific arrival dates for this programme as they will be finalised upon your placement confirmation. When completing your application, give us an indication of the earliest date you'd be available to depart and we'll use that to get started.
If you are looking to head to Spain for the summer months (June - August) please apply to our Au Pair Spain Summer programme.
