Overview

Our Ski Resort Jobs in winter programme is one of the U.K's leading ways to spend a season or more living in New Zealand on a NZ working holiday visa.

Trade the British summertime drizzle for epic slopes, this is your opportunity to live amongst some of the World’s greatest Mountains. The Winter program starts between May and July and runs through to October. This is the program for you if you fancy working in one of New Zealand’s most renowned ski resorts - either on or off the slopes.

We're going to set you up with guaranteed job interviews prior to your departure with the top resort employers in New Zealand. You'll land yourself a ski season job earning $15+ an hour during the Kiwi Winter season and be living it up in Queenstown.

When you're not working at the resort you can find time to explore and discover the adventure capital of the world. Impress your friends by going bungee jumping, water-skiing, caving, jet-boating, skydiving, surfing and hiking. Discover the famous vineyards and eateries and at the end of the each day chill out with a cold one in your hand with your new found friends.

New Zealand has one of the best lifestyles in the world and a climate to match. Where you'll be living is full of rugged mountains, majestic lakes, beautiful forestry, crystal clear water and sandy beaches. You've heard about it, you've talked about it, now go discover it for yourself with one of our New Zealand travel jobs.

The cherry on top? Our Smaller Earth office is based in Queenstown so we're at the heart of the action. We know the locals, we are the locals and we know the town like the back of our hand.

Employers

New Zealand Employers

The New Zealand Winter typically falls between the months of June to August. We're working with NZSKI and the three main ski fields based on the South Island; The Remarkables, Coronet Peak and Mt Hutt.

Coronet Peak
Coronet Peak is based just 25 minutes from Queenstown, the party capital of the South. Being one of the only slopes to offer night skiing on Friday and Saturday nights, you can easily see why this is a popular choice for those wanting to live the intense party lifestyle. It has amazing facilities and the most breathtaking views across Lake Wakatipu...be prepared to fall in love with this place. World class athletes flock to Coronet Peak to train in the Winter months, dubbing it the 'original' ski resort area.
Mt Hutt
Mount Hutt rises around 80km to the West of Christchurch about 2190 metres above sea level. It's the largest skiable area on the South Island, boasting an incredible 3.65 square km of white snowy goodness. For those of you who are keen to hit the slopes, Mt Hutt caters for all abilities with a 'magic carpet' for beginners through to challenging black runs for the more advanced level skiers. There's no accommodation on the mountain itself, so your new home will be based in Methven which is a town about 35 minutes away.
The Remarkables
The Remarkables mountain range really does live up to its name as it rises majestically over the southeastern shore of Lake Wakatipu. It's about a 45 minute drive from Queenstown so you'll never be far from the action as this is where you'll stay. The slopes here cater for all abilities with plenty of space for beginners and free style areas for the more advanced skier. Boasting some of the best alpine views in the world, The Remarkables is a place like no other.

FAQs

When is the latest I can apply?
If you're hoping to work a ski season in New Zealand, you'll start work in June for the duration of the Winter season (around 3 months). Therefore, you should submit your application and pay your deposit as early as possible...no later than March 1st 2017 to ensure you get an interview spot. Once the spots are gone...they're gone! Just click 'Apply Now' above to get going.
I'm nervous about meeting the employers, will you help me?
Absolutely! We're here to help make things as easy as we possibly can and have designed the application process as such. You'll go through a pre-screen interview with us which you can treat almost like a practice run before the real thing. We'll give you hints, tips and help your application stand out from the rest.
Do I have to go for the whole year?
No! Although your visa will be valid for 12 months; the duration of your trip is completely up to you. You should ensure you're available to work for a minimum period of 3 months.
What if I don't get hired?
Hopefully, this won't happen because to be accepted on to the programme you'll need to meet the criteria we've set out. But, in the unfortunate event that this should happen you can either switch on to our Kiwi & Kiwi arrivals package or we'll refund your programme fees (minus the deposit which is non refundable).
Is accommodation included?
Accommodation is not included in the programme past your first 3 nights, however, you’ll be provided with an accommodation guide prior to your arrival. You’ll also have access to our Resort Jobs New Zealand Facebook page allowing you to connect with other participants who are heading out to New Zealand at the same time. Both Queenstown and Mount Hutt offer a variety of accommodations suitable for seasonal workers. We suggest booking at least an extra 7 nights of accommodation at your hostel to give you adequate time to find some more permanent accommodation.
How do I apply for the right visa?
You’ll need to apply for the Working Holiday Scheme (WHS) visa via the New Zealand Immigration website. The UK has an unlimited number of visas available to 18-30 years old. Your visa application is completed entirely online without having to physically visit an embassy, nice and simple. Once you’re officially accepted on to our programme we’re happy to answer any questions that you may have about your visa application. For now though, go ahead and check out this handy video we've created which will tell you how you can apply for your Working Holiday Visa to New Zealand!
